RuggedCell™ Has Received Top Honours at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention Awards

Canadian Hydrogen Awards 2024 Award Winners

Hydrogen Optimized’s RuggedCell™ water electrolysis system has received top honours at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention Awards.

Our innovative high-power clean hydrogen production technology received the “Hydrogen Technology: Equipment or Process Controls Award” at a ceremony in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada last night. Hydrogen Optimized Co-Founder and VP Development Edward Stuart, and Director of ESG and Business Development Bryce Conacher accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The award “recognizes highly disruptive innovations in equipment that have had a major impact on hydrogen efficiency, emissions, economics, scheduling, or quality”. The category also includes products or services related to hydrogen process controls.

The patented RuggedCell™ system provides low-cost clean hydrogen at the scale needed to decarbonize major, hard-to-abate industries such as ammonia plants, steelmaking, trucking, and utility applications. It is unique among water electrolyzer systems for its unipolar architecture, which builds on the proven Stuart technology platform with new innovations in high-power electrolysis. The innovations are designed to achieve the lowest levelized cost of clean hydrogen at large scale while also delivering attributes that are critical to large-scale clean hydrogen project developers. These include dynamic power response for use with renewable electricity, durability, and low-cost on-site maintenance.
