Green hydrogen is ideal for use as a carbon-free feedstock for chemical and industrial processes. It can be used to replace fossil fuel alternatives such as oil, coal and natural gas, and in some applications as a replacement for carbon-intensive “grey” or “blue” hydrogen. It is typically difficult to abate chemical and industrial processes directly using electricity because the production methods require combustion or the input of hydrogen as a chemical feedstock.
Decarbonization, therefore, requires the conversion of clean electricity into clean hydrogen. This is becoming progressively more viable with the rapid, ongoing decline in the cost of renewable energy and the development of Hydrogen Optimized’s RuggedCell™ water electrolysis technology, which is designed to drive down the cost of producing clean hydrogen at scale.
