Company co-founder Edward Stuart re-elected to association’s Board of Directors
September 28, 2021 (Vancouver, BC) —The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is pleased to welcome Ontario-based Hydrogen Optimized as a new Sponsoring Member.
“We are very pleased to have Hydrogen Optimized as a Sponsoring Member and to welcome Edward Stuart back to the CHFCA board of directors,” said Mark Kirby, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “A dynamic new company with a pedigree stretching back over 100 years, Hydrogen Optimized is quickly establishing itself as a leader in the Canadian hydrogen and fuel cell sector, capitalizing on Canada’s technology excellence and growing global demand for clean hydrogen. We are confident they will provide strong guidance and support as CHFCA works to grow the sector and ensure our member companies are recognized globally.”
“We are excited to take on an increased leadership role in the CHFCA,” said Andrew T.B. Stuart, President and CEO, Hydrogen Optimized. “By becoming a Sponsoring Member of the CHFCA, and through the re-election of Hydrogen Optimized co-founder Edward Stuart to the association’s Board of Directors, we are continuing to advance our presence in Canada’s hydrogen sector. As a home-grown Canadian industrial company at a time of rapid global growth in the hydrogen sector, we believe it is important for us to actively advocate for Canada’s hydrogen technology, manufacturing, and export industries.”
Stuart added, “The time for hydrogen at scale has arrived, and the CHFCA is well-positioned to act as a catalyst for its adoption in Canada and to promote exports of Canada’s hydrogen, hydrogen technology, and hydrogen equipment. Canada has the capacity to be a hydrogen leader both domestically and globally, and therefore it is vital that our hydrogen industry expand its leadership role in decarbonizing our planet.”
Hydrogen Optimized, a CHFCA member for two years, is a Canadian private hydrogen technology company that develops and commercializes large-scale Green Hydrogen production systems. The company targets its patent-pending RuggedCellTM high-current unipolar water electrolysis systems to major industrial, chemical, utility and energy users worldwide. RuggedCellTM technology has unique attributes that enable cost-effective Green Hydrogen production via water electrolysis at very high-power ratings. In turn, this enables the large volume hydrogen output required by industrial applications to significantly reduce their carbon emissions.
Uniquely, the RuggedCellTM can scale into the hundreds of megawatts for a single hydrogen installation; the larger the individual plant, the lower the unit cost of hydrogen produced. In contrast, the low current, low power bipolar electrolyzers available today require multiple parallel installations of smaller units to produce large volumes of hydrogen.
